Trakm8 has agreed a long-term deal to supply its innovative route optimisation and delivery slot booking software to one of the UK’s largest grocery retailers.
The new partnership will see Trakm8 provide route optimisation and slot booking algorithms to a major retailer which operates more than 2,000 delivery vehicles nationwide.
The aim of the partnership is to help the supermarket chain shore-up its operational efficiencies, maximise delivery capabilities and ensure its drivers are working in the most fuel-efficient, cost-effective ways possible.
The announcement of the partnership comes at a pivotal time for the FMCG sector, which has seen unprecedented levels of demand since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Research by market insights specialist Mintel found that the online grocery shopping sector grew by 33% during lockdown, reaching an estimated value of £16.8bn – up from £12.7bn in 2019.
Peter Mansfield, Group Sales and Marketing Director at Trakm8, said: “The signing of a new agreement with a leading supermarket chain is a significant step forward in our offering to the FMCG sector. By utilising our slot booking and route optimisation services, the brand will be able to make significant savings across the board, cutting fuel costs and increasing driver efficiency, alongside creating more delivery opportunities for customers.
“From initial benchmarking trials alone, we have been able to demonstrate how our solution can reduce mileage and improve existing average drops per hour, which has the potential to deliver significant savings and ultimately, deliver an impressive ROI across the length of the contract.”
Trakm8’s optimisation platform helps fleet managers plan routes most effectively, with proven fleet productivity gains by up to 33% and cutting fuel spend by as much as 20%.
Furthermore, Trakm8’s slot booking and dynamic scheduling functionality will help the retailer meet the customer’s home delivery expectations efficiently, reduce fleet costs and significantly reduce the risk of last-mile delivery failures.
